30 in 30, #1 – hello January!

Cool Glass, 6x6 inches, oil on board

Family is gone now and I'm sad about that. But I'm happy I have 30 paintings to look forward to! Since I haven't painted in nearly three weeks, it took some time to get settled in (not to mention finding my supplies). I hadn't preplanned my subjects, so I grabbed a few glass objects and started sketching.

I blocked in shapes and main values with a large brush, continued adding shadows, details, modeling. Then took my tiny painting knife and added final details and texture.

I am so out of shape. I almost wiped this one, but figured I would keep all the 30 paintings. I do learn so much from each painting.

Tomorrow is my day to help my mother-in-law, so it will be challenging to get a painting in. We'll see.

  1. Hi Cindy, Congratulations on your Blog... and for participating in Leslie's "30 in 30". This is going to be so much fun! You did a great job on the bottles, and I loved seeing your process. Happy New Year!
